Mais qu’est-ce que ce « soi-même » qu’il faut connaître ?
Son caractère, ses défauts, ses qualités ? Non, ce n’est pas encore cela se connaître.
Se connaître, c’est posséder la science des différents corps dont l’homme est constitué
( les corps physique, éthérique, astral, mental, causal, bouddhique, atmique)
et des conditions nécessaires à leur épanouissement.

 But what is this ‘your-self’ which/who/that one must know?
 One’s  character, one’s  faults, one’s qualities?  No, it is not yet that to know oneself.
To know oneself is to possess the science of the different bodies of which/that (/who) (the) man is constituted 
(physical, etheric, astral, mental, causal, buddhic, atmic bodies)
 and the conditions necessary for their development/flourishing.
 If the Initiates of (the)Antiquity insisted so much on the need to know oneself,
 it is because self-knowledge
 opens up the greatest possibilities for (the) advancement, for (the)progress and for (the) success.
 As long as we do not know the needs of the subtle bodies, we give always everything
 to the physical body which/that(/who) is stuffed,
 while the soul and the spirit, hungry, thirsty, suffocate and die.”
